Spectrum of Aliveness
Share
Aliveness encompasses all of it. The good, bad, and ugly. It’s easy to feel life when it’s delivering you the goodies, but can we remain open and feeling it when it’s not all rainbows and butterflies?
I notice myself fully embracing life without hesitation when I’m in flow and things are going smooth, but I have also caught myself cutting off the flow when I begin to reject or close down on specific experiences or emotions, which actually just makes it more difficult.
This phase of life I am focusing on not rejecting any of it, embracing and remaining open through all of it. Admittedly, easier said than done!
Accepting that life won’t always be sweet, I will have moments of discomfort and challenge, and that’s totally okay. This too makes up the full range of life and gifts the opportunities for growth and learning.
Our power and strength returns to us not by controlling everything in order to remain in a comfortable experience, but by choosing our reaction to the discomfort and choosing to react with trust, acceptance, and courage.
The deeper we can accept that things won’t always be easy and sweet and courageously trust that whatever arises will work out, the deeper we can truly feel life. This includes the pleasurable and ease we all seek as well. You can’t deepen the ability to feel the comfort without also being willing to feel the discomfort. Feeling includes it all.
We either turn off our ability to feel so we feel nothing and reject life, or we continue opening and embracing all of it in order to truly feel our aliveness.
I know which path I chose and will continue choosing.
More life.
